Life is Beautiful

(This is an old post of mine shifted here)

So, what is beautiful about life?

'Life is beautiful', is it? so what really is beautiful about this life or what is the beauty of living a life of an animal with six senses?
The answer could easily be the famous quote: Beauty lies in the beholder's eyes(or should i say, in the beholder's attitude?) But, hey is it that simple?

Thanks to the online dictionary which helped me get the meaning of the word 'beautiful'
It reads something like this, beautiful: adj. having beauty; having qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, think about, etc.; delighting the senses or mind: a beautiful dress; a beautiful speech. So, beauty has to do more with the state of mind.

Just imagine how many times you have exclaimed,"Oh such a beautiful thing!", "What a beauty!" ? Anything which gives great pleasure to see or hear is beautiful, but this varies very much from person to person. I would call a Ferrari a real beauty, but you may not (dont mind this if you aren't an F1 freak!). Similarly, you would say Angelina Jolie is a drop-dead beauty, but your girlfriend might just never agree with you! The same goes with the kind of music or voice a person likes to hear or any other thing for that matter.

But, the beauty which most of you would agree with me lies in the small, yet powerful gestures made by people, which we come across everyday but seldom have the time to cherish. A few noticed and the many unnoticed actions of every person, every day add to the so called 'Beauty of life'. I am sure we all would have come across many such instances where we would have said to ourselves "Yes, Life is beautiful."

Recieving a surprise gift, lying on the grass and starring into the sky, falling in love(for the first time! and the may be a second time too!!), getting a big hug from your best friend, blessings of a stranger, and the list goes on. There is no end to these precious moments in our lives. Life also throws unusual surprises at all of us and some of these turn out to be the best memories of our life.

Finally, I believe the ultimate satisfaction you get is when you make a person happy. Just come to think of it: Have you ever tried to bring a smile on a face? May be sometimes. At some point of life, you would have done something to see your loved ones or friends happy!(Even if you didn't really like it) Its a wonderful feeling you might have had when you saw them happy.Such moments form the most precious memories of your life. And whenever your mind goes back to these memories, you realise how beautiful this life is. Try to bring smiles on every face and its like magic, it comes back to you too.

It is said that, 'The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.' Life is to live and so make every moment as memorable as you can. Believe me, there is a beauty hidden in every person and the beauty lies in discovering it !!

Writing essays as essays

One has to tame an animal to become its master, a good essay too needs just that. Writing any essay is an easy task but to write the best, one needs immense patience and perseverance. The topic of the essay as such plays the vital role here.Once you are able to comprehend the topic, your job is half done. I have seen people starting off without a clear understanding of the topic and eventually finding that their essays and the topics were way too far from each other. In a world which is moving fast (with the top speed of newer cars raising the bar each time!!) one can find very little time to give serious thought to the task at hand. But essays require more concentration. I would say more than that needed for reading an interesting book. It asks for your mind and heart to be in sync with each other to write what you feel with the right words in an organised manner.

I hope life was easier than what it appears to be, as there is always a person in our life who complicates things. There are people who take lot of pains to fill an essay with words that are fresh out of dictionary. Some of them are god-gifted wordworms! Majority of the readers would never have heard these words, leave their meaning. If it were not for these gentlemen, there would not be a special dictionary for the most difficult words in English. Thanks to the wordworms, English dictionaries are becoming fatter.

Essays try to connect you with the world other than you. It is one tool which makes you think what matters to you the most in you and apart from you too. By taking you through a sea of thoughts, essays make you take the effort to think and re-think your stand on the given topic. When the topic is somethingwhich involves incidents in your life, it acts as mirror. It is nothing but YOU in YOUR own words. You would find these topics to be the most demanding, as they can hit you right on your face. Writing about oneself is where introspection is at its best.

The various other topics which include burning social and political issues depend on the writer's knowledge about these topics. Even then, the major drawback i see in these essays is the ignorance of finer details and the validity of the assumptions or even stated facts. The writer promotes his opinions based on these assumptions or facts derived from various media. Such a written discourse suffers from authenticity. I am not to blame these writers as they would indeed be able to support their writings with sufficient proof. But the REAL picture would only be recorded in the minds of the ones involved in these issues. One of them has to be the godfather for such an exposition.

I cannot help but praise those who are able to do this daunting task with relative ease. It's one thing to write an essay, it's another to prepare for it.
